Setting Equalizer
It is recommended to read How 7Canaries works first before adjusting the Equalizer.
To bring up the Equalizer window, use "Options->Show Equalizer" menu item or the Equalizer button on the toolbar.
You can also use the diminished picture of the Equalizer in the right-bottom corner of 7Canaries window. Click on it to bring up the Equalizer.

The purpose of Equalizer is to let you determine the relative volumes of different pitch notes. It consists of a bar chart and a fingerboard underneath it. By pressing the left mouse button anywhere in the chart area you can adjust the corresponding note volume. In the following example all notes have maximal volumes (100%) except for C-1, which has 56% volume.

One common use of Equalizer is to bring the bass notes (they often contain a lot of noise) to zero, and strip just the melodic voices:

Another one is to strip diatonic notes only, here only diatonic notes of C-dur will be recognized:

Sometimes, the use of the Equalizer can dramatically improve recognition quality.
