VisiNote Editor is a special MIDI files editor, included in the 7Canaries Professional version. It allows you to quickly and effectively correct the results of the automatic recognition. The Editor is designed similarly to a Piano Roll, i.e. the time axis is located horizontally, and different positions on the vertical line correspond to different pitches.
The unique difference of VisiNote Editor from other similar editors is that the Editor Window combines the spectrogram of the initial musical piece and the recognized notes. This way, VisiNote Editor makes it possible to visually compare the spectrogram peaks (reflected by color) and the notes. Since the maximum values on the spectrogram, as a rule, correspond to the notes, this diagram is very convenient for editing the recognized files, for it makes it possible to conveniently edit the recognition results even if you don't have a lot of experience of working with music.
Among the functions of VisiNote editor, there are functions like adding/removing notes; changing pitch and duration; playback of the result, including synchronous playback with the initial music piece. Furthermore, VisiNote Editor allows saving intermediate results as special files (.tsvn), which save both the notes and the spectrogram. The editor lets you play a fragment of the MIDI file, therefore, allowing you to remove erroneous notes, which could have appeared during the recognition process, piece by piece.
For your convenience, the editor has several operating modes. In the editing mode ("Edit Tool") you can move the notes, change their duration, create new notes ("Create notes" option) and also "glue" together the notes, erroneously divided by the automatic algorithm ("Glue" Option). In "Delete Tool" mode, you can quickly remove the unnecessary notes at once. At any time, you can play the entire composition or the assigned fragment, at a normal or slow speed, as well as synchronically with the original piece.
One of the useful VisiNote Editor features is the ability of temporarily muting the notes. In this case, the muted notes are displayed as dotted lines and do not sound at playback. That way, you can evaluate the editing results, with some specific notes muted or enabled.
Additional editor features include the scale selection, editing of the color scheme and contrast of the spectrogram ("Edit Color Scheme"), editing a specific note's attributes separately (velocity, duration, channel, track, patch) as well as the attributes of the new notes by default and the MIDI file's properties. You can cancel any number of the produced manipulations at any time (Undo).
You can see a detailed description of the VisiNote Editor Window.
For additional convenience some of the editor's functions are accessible with the help of your keyboard or mouse. (see Keyboard Commands).
Note: VisiNote Editor(tm) is not included in 7Canaries Standard.
